From 13 – 20 September, TravelRight is proud to present a week-long celebration of walking in Bulwell and Bulwell Forest.
The walks are varied, free and suitable for all, whether young, old, individuals or families. You don’t need special footwear, just come along, get some fresh air and explore your local area with friends, old and new. You can download the Festival of Walking programme by clicking here.
Smoke in the Valley: Bulwell History Walk:
TravelRight’s resident historian Chris Matthews will open the festival with a historical tour of Bulwell. Click here for full details of this and other local history walks this season.
Meet at Bulwell Riverside, Saturday 13 September, 1pm
River Leen Walk:
Join Bulwell Forest Action Group for a walk along the River Leen pathway, through Vernon Park and to Bulwell Forest.
Meet at the number 17 bus stop at the end of Cantrell Road, Monday 15 September, 10am. You can also pick up this walk at 10:15am at Bulwell Riverside.
Southglade Park Walk
A walk led by Best Foot Forward exploring a variety of routes around the Bestwood area. All the walks are in the Green Flag areas of Bestwood including some in Southglade Park.
Meet at Southglade Access Centre, Monday 15 September, 1:15pm
Nuthall Railway Walk
A walk along part of the old Great Northern Line on a new footpath which passes fields of barley, rapeseed and corn. Stop halfway for a coffee at Three Ponds Pub at Nuthall. Led by Best Foot Forward volunteers.

Join us for a special wheelchair-friendly, easy paced walk along the River Leen. Wheelchair users, carers and relatives all welcome for the launch of this new monthly TravelRight walk.

Ticket to Ride
A walk led by Bulwell Forest Action Group around the tranquil waters of Attenborough Nature Reserve. We’re going to show you how easy it is to get around using our city’s excellent bus network. Bring your bus pass if you have one or we’ll help you with the fare.

Walk and Talk Special
Join us for a special extended walk and an international tea party. Bring your friends along and your favourite brew to share with others.
Meet at Bulwell Riverside, Thursday 18 September, 11am
Join Simon Jenkins, Nottingham City Council Park Ranger, for an evening walk to discover and identify which bats are living in this urban environment.
Meet at Bulwell Forest Golf Club, Thursday 18 September, 7.15pm
Parents, pushchairs, young ones and grandparents are all very welcome on this fun, friendly and leisurely walk in association with Bulwell Toy Library.
